Bethlehem Lutheran School

Mary Kandilian is the creator of the nature-based Luminara Atelier curriculum and the 2024 ELEA Distinguished Educational Leader of the Year. Since 2015, she has served as Director of Bethlehem School, where she leads a nurturing, faith-filled community dedicated to the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of every child.

Mary began her career as a District Preschool Teacher and later taught at the elementary level, supporting whole-child development through meaningful family partnerships. She has also contributed to higher education as an Associate Director of a School of Education and an Adjunct Professor. Throughout her work, Mary integrates thoughtful pedagogy, nature-inspired learning, and Christian values, honoring each child’s God-given potential.
